A while ago I saw a gentleman out on the ocean and it actually looked like he was walking on the water, but then I realized he was on a board with a paddle in his hand. Wow, what a great idea! Paddle Boarding! It is an excellent and inexpensive way to get out on the ocean, and get some exercise too!
If you look out from the beach now days, there is a multitude of Stand up Paddle Boards (SUP’s) that dot the horizon. It is definitely the newest, and most popular Maui water sport. If you haven’t tried it yet, then you should…It is a bit of a workout, but also so much fun!
The Maui Snorkel Store at The Sugar Beach Resort is a great place to rent an SUP in South Maui. We also offer free island delivery (with advanced notice). Guests can also pick up a board at the shop and take them to your vacation condo or hotel since they also offer car straps! Or, you can paddle right off the beach in front of the Sugar Beach Resort. The reef in front of the pool at Sugar Beach Resort is a dynamite place to paddle board because there are plenty of turtles, manta rays, and colorful fish! You just have to check it out!
We will fit you to the right size board, give you a few tips, and off you go. I find it more fun to paddle with a partner… however, you can rent just one board and give everyone a chance to try it. After you get your balance down, it’s a breeze! Paddle Boarding is safe and fun for all ages.
