What a cool opportunity to meet real Maui Paniolos!The Ranch is set on the eastern slopes of the West Maui Mountain Range. It’s not just a horseback ride, it is so much more. You better believe it!
As you enter the ranch, you’ll know you are at a special place. First, you’ll check in at the ranch office, and then take a walk around the property while they saddle your horses. Peacocks and chickens are running wild, along with goats, dogs, cats and other assorted animals that this Maui ranch takes in as rescues. Don’t miss the short walk out to the gazebo!. The views are amazing! Here, you’ll see huge banana trees, mango, guava and lilikoi (passionfruit) adorning the path to the gazebo*
Mendez Ranch has a great assortment of horses, and they’ll definitely pick the perfect one for you! This trail ride is completely different from the others. Mendes is the only ranch that will let you canter, and gallop your horse on the way home (if you are experienced). How special is that? So, be sure and let them know if you want a spunky horse!
As you saunter down the valley, expert guides explain all the different plants, trees and bushes that you pass. They even will pick you some in-season passion fruit along the way! (Maui folks know, this is a TRUE luxury!) The trail ends at a beautiful spot with breathtaking ocean views. The guide will offer to take lots of pictures of you on the horses, so don’t forget your camera! The ride back is so truly amazing.
