My family and I really enjoyed the underwater world close up, with over 70 exhibits we learned more about the tropical fish, sea turtles, and beautiful live coral. We have been snorkeling on Maui many times and the Aquarium was a new and fun adventure.  The exhibits were fun and interactive. The best part was the 54-foot tunnel surrounded by a 750,000-gallon display filled with sharks, stingrays and thousands of fish! Shark information time was very informative where we learned a lot!

Next we went out to the Turtle Lagoon. We were just in time for a presentation by Maui Ocean Center naturalist Joe. He says that despite their nonchalant appearance, green sea turtles can swim up to 20 mph-four times as fast as humans. Joe says they dine on turtle pellets composed of forty percent protein and fifteen percent fat. They also eat algae, which causes them to turn green on the inside.

They have a nice selection of shell jewelry, stunning blown glass, culinary delicacies such as Maui fruit jewels, volcano spices and Maui grown coffee and a unique collection of art, toys, books etc. We decided to have one of the local artist design a personalized plaque for our granddaughter Coral.

Then for lunch we enjoyed the cheeseburgers and french fries with are three grandchildren at the Seascape Maalaea Restaurant.

A must see for families or those interested in the marine life in Maui!
