Saturday and Sunday July 2nd & 3rd, 2016

This weekend in Makawao, celebrate the 4th of July weekend with Maui’s most popular Parade and 4th of July Rodeo.
Besides the Fireworks Show on Monday the 4th of July, 2016 the most popular thing to do on Maui is to see the 4th of July Makawao Rodeo and Parade!

Head up the slopes of Haleakala Volcano where the Makawao Rodeo will be celebrating it’s 61st year.  Put on by the Maui Roping Club the Makawao Rodeo is the largest Rodeo in the State of Hawaii, with more than 350 cowboys coming from all over the world!

The Paniolo (Hawaiian Cowboy) Parade opens the Maui 4th of July Rodeo weekend in Makawao.  The Parade starts at 9 AM Saturday July 2nd and commences down Makawao Ave. , ending on Baldwin Ave.   The Horses dressed in many layers of Flower Leis and their riders are an amazing site and well worth the drive up to Makawao.

Thursday and Friday are the qualifying runs at the Oskie Rice Arena which is free admission, followed by the Bull Bash Thursday at 7:00 PM $15.  The Rodeo starts after the Paniolo Parade at 1:00 PM.  $10 A/ $5 Seniors and Students, Children 10 and under are free. There will be a Free Shuttle to watch the parade on Saturday morning, from the Arena to Makawao…(There is much more parking at the Rodeo than in Makawao!)

If you decide to park in Makawao, go early for parking and so you can stop at the Kamodo Bakery (opened in 1916; same owners) for one of their famous Creme Puffs. Makawao is a quaint little town with a large Art community, galleries and cute little shops and boutiques to brouse. There are lot of little foodie eateries, so go hungry and support local…

On Monday the 4th of July there will be fireworks in Lahaina at 8:00 PM. We highly recommend any one of the many 4th of July Fireworks Cruises. Departing from Ma’alaea, Lahaina and Ka’anapali, most cruises offer either appetizers or dinner, plus cocktails and some even include dancing! Most will watch the Sunset before  the Fireworks show.
