The owners, Jay & Dana, have been fishing together for many years here in Hawaii, even before they bought the Strike Zone vessel & started their own Maui fishing company. Strike Zone is one of the only boats that offer a sport fishing and bottom fishing combo; they are also the only ones that can take more than 6 people on their boat and they are also the only ones with a rider price as well as a child fishing price!

A lot of people do not know the difference between Bottom fishing and Sport/Big Game Fishing.

Sportfishing (which is what most of the fishing boats in Hawaii are doing), the boat is doing the fishing.  Trolling with lures or live bait.  When you get a “strike”, the fisherman whose turn it is gets in the chair and reels in a big fish!

With Bottom Fishing, once you are at the fishing grounds, they will pass out the poles, and you are the one holding the pole over the side of the boat & catching fish. *When bottom fishing, you are almost guaranteed to catch something.

Hawaii Fishing Licenses Are REQUIRED

After more than a decade of planning, the Department of Land and Natural Resources now requires a $20.00 per day fee for each fisher over the age of 14. Active military members and their immediate family are exempt.

Each fisher must register individually at fishing.hawaii.gov/register.
