Sea turtles are the true ancients of the world & everyone loves these giant sea Turtles; Called Honu in Hawaiian.
There are 5 types of Turtles in Hawaii; the 2 types we see the most are the Green Sea Turtle and the more rare Hawksbill Turtle. (Honu ea)
Petroglyphs and legends abound in Hawaiian culture. The Green turtles were a source of food, tools, and ornamentation for early Hawaiians. With the arrival of western culture, the level of exploitation of this 'resource'  increased dramatically.

The green sea turtle is the largest of the hard-shelled sea turtles. Adults of this species commonly reach 45 inches and can weigh up to 300-400lbs!
